How budhism came to sri lanka?

Buddhism traveled 2 Sri Lanka via India, the birthplace of this religion. The great king Asoka of India converted 2 Buddhism after a bloody war at Kalinga, and sent forward emissaries and monks, one of whom was his son Mahendra, 2 various provinces and places 2 spread the doctrines of this religion. He sent one such convoy 2 Sri Lanka too. And further spread was assisted by traders between the 2 nations.
