And remember that Arthur Miller wrote 'The Crucible' as a response to the Red Scare (Second Red Scare to be exact...), so you could say something about how Miller was comparing Washington nationalists, especially McCarthy, to 'conniving' or 'manipulative' women, because in the '50s women were still seen as second class citizens by mainstream society.
